After we returned from our summer Oddyzee in 2001, we made arrangements for two months in Europe.
Plane tickets were booked. Rail passes were purchased. Commitments were made.
Then terrorists flew planes into a pair of tall buildings in New York, and Americans got very paranoid about getting on airplanes. Many of our friends urged us to cancel our trip to Europe.
We went anyway. It was the right choice.
There were no crowds. Innkeepers, shop keepers, and the entire European hospitality industry was happy to see us.
The narrative of our adventure starts here.
